I mentioned in the tags to another post that I’d read a quarter of a million words of fanfic in the last day and a half, and @beminevalentines seemed interested so here’s a roundup.
Division by katofthenoggin. Rated E, 19k. Coffee shop AU. No crime, no cases, no baddies or villain, no angst; just UST and getting together and fluff and smut, and it’s just heartachingly sweet. John POV through and through.
Lines Written in Kensington Gardens by caitlinispiningforjohnlock. Rated E, 6k. A beautiful little rendition of how a great man became a good one. A series 3 fix-it fic that’s still 99% Sherlock and John but almost incidentally parent!lock. I had this on my to read list for months and I’m sad I didn’t get to read it sooner.
A Waste of Breath by Chryse. Rated E, 95k. Sherlock starts seeing Sebastian Moran, and if that’s not a catalyst for a johnlock story, I don’t know what is. Sherlock is Asberger-y, John is protective. This fic is made of mutual pining and whump and more casefics than probably exists in all of BBC Sherlock canon, with fluff that’s just as strong.
The Frost is All Over by Chryse. Rated E, 148k. Underage teenlock, Dickensian/Victorian historical AU, stableboy!John and Earl’s son!Sherlock but that really doesn’t do it justice. Completely immersive and epic, a true adventure, an incredibly slow romance, and so so so much whump, tempered by really lovely tickling and rough-housing and UST and finding out what to do in an age where nobody gives you guidance on How to Gay.
Observe, Control, Delete by Chryse. Rated M, 9k. Whump, my god, the whump. The emotional kind, starting as a boy, and the physical kind, as in going through physiotherapy. And eventual johnlock, because he deserves it.
